Here are a few key positions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Restorer<\/strong>: Help to restore our locomotive or conduct other on-site tasks. Possible tasks include machining, rust-busting, and general manual labor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Researcher<\/strong>: View items at libraries such as Stanford, CSRM, and public libraries. We have lists of items to review and some is just detective work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Website Work<\/strong>: Maintain and update the website, including news.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Business Management and Fundraising:<\/strong> &#8220;Non profit is a tax status, not a business plan.&#8221; Please contact us with your ideas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Education Specialist<\/strong>: Provide curriculum content for Californian history students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting Started<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To &#8220;apply&#8221; for a volunteer position, fill out the contact form below. This will notify us so that we can initiate a conversation via email.<br><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: At the current moment our infrastructure for onboarding new volunteers is very limited and we cannot work<\/strong>: Since the site is gated and surveilled by camera, you will initially need to coordinate with a volunteer who has access in order to attend (work days do not have a regular schedule to them at the current time). Most of the site is exposed directly to the elements, so get ready to get your hands dirty.
