The Workers of Bayshore

This page is dedicated to the workers who brought Bayshore Yard to life.

A group of workers, many of them women, pose for a picture in front of the Freight Car Repair Shed. As was the case with many industrial jobs in the U.S., World War II brought an influx of women to Bayshore. [Mike Mangini collection]

The following photos were taken by J.C. Contrus from the collection of Danny O’Sullivan who worked at the shops in the carpentry shops from 1952 to 1960. The pictures are believed to have been taken in 1982, near the end of the shops’ operation. San Francisco Trains thanks Danny for providing the pictures.
