Bayshore Maps

A c. 1950 map of the Roundhouse and Backshop area. Note the track exiting the back of stall 36, which appears to have replaced the original through-track of stall 37 in the duty of conveying locomotives from the Roundhouse’s turntable to the Backshop’s transfer table. Stall 29 used to have a through-track as well, the remnants of which can be seen leading to the structure labeled “furnace.” Courtesy of E.O. Gibson, Wx4.org.
The Yard as it appeared on the 1956 USGS topographical map for “San Francisco South, CA.” Note the Car Shops to the north of the Backshop. By this time, the Tank & Boiler Shop had evidently closed down and has no tracks leading into it, and the stall 29 through-track appears to have been rebuilt. Courtesy of E.O. Gibson, Wx4.org.
