Welcome to
San Francisco Trains

We are the group that is restoring State Belt #4, a steam locomotive that operated on San Francisco’s Embarcadero. #4 has seen decades of restoration efforts, thousands of volunteer hours, and over $75,000 in contributions spent on making the engine run again.

Seeking a permanent home for the engine has brought us to the Bayshore Roundhouse. On the border of Brisbane, Daly City, and San Francisco, the early 1900’s roundhouse has the potential of being the center of a great community destination. Due to our work, the roundhouse is now on the National Register of Historic Places, the first building in Brisbane, California to receive such an honor.

Our Locomotive

#4 is the only surviving steam locomotive from the State Belt Railroad’s roster.

The Roundhouse

Constructed in the early 20th century, the Bayshore Roundhouse is the largest remaining roundhouse in the State of California.
